Stepparenting can be very discouraging. Sooner or later every stepparent feels trapped. Often nothing they do or say is right. And when things get tough, stepparents are often shocked at their own lack of love for the child. Even though stepparenting can be extraordinarily rewarding, it can also be a demoralizing, guilt-ridden prison.
This book offers the freeing answers to some of the most common questions stepparents ask. Speaking from over sixteen years of experience in a blended family, and supported by a biblical perspective, Margaret Broersma confronts the many challenges and gives hope to stepparents who may feel alone in their struggle to blend.
- One out of every three Americans is part of a stepfamily
- Written by a veteran stepparent
- Not only is this book biblical, it's very practical and readable
- This book shows stepparents, who desperately need empathy, that they aren't alone in their struggle

Review Church Libraries - November 1, 2004
The section on celebrating holidays when dealing with so many different families alone is worth the price of the book. Her advice on establishing family contracts and blending families of different religions is also on target. She frequently backs up her recommendations with stories of real families, including her own. Resource list included. Highly recommended.

"Margaret Broersma skillfully navigates the sometimes-treacherous waters of step parenting with faith and finesse. Broersma and her husband know firsthand the uphill battle of rearing children, sharing spaces, and establishing blended family traditions, as well as overcoming resistance to achieving all of the above."

"Broersma uses her experiences as a stepparent to answer questions regarding real-life situations faced in step-parenting. For a decade she has received many questions through regular mail, e-mail and face to face. She has taken many of these and put them together in 50 questions. She doesn't 'beat around the bush' but gives straightforward advice based on sound biblical principles. This is a must have book for blended families. It you, or someone you know, are planning to become stepparents, you would definitely benefit from reading this book. Keep it handy. You will use it many times as situations arise. This book and the Daily Reflections book by Broersma would make wonderful gifts."
